Our team is passionate about making the world a better place through scientific discovery — and we’re doing that with the help of the Most Valuable Peas.

The Technology

Our aim is to commercialise pea varieties with beneficial health properties. The first pea variety we aim to commercialise is MVP01. This variety is a shared IP technology between the John Innes Centre, Quadrum Institute and Imperial College London.

The unique benefit of MVP01 is that it is naturally high in resistant starch resulting in slower carbohydrate absorption and a low glycemic index.

Our science-based approach to product development with MVP01 allows us to make a EFSA certified health claim on our products.

MVPea Ltd. started as the project of early career researchers from the University of East Anglia and Norwich Research Park. Our team developed ideas in the i-Teams program, and subsequently established a spin-out company from the John Innes Centre.

We're on a mission to bridge the gap between academia and end-consumers, by converting cutting-edge research into innovative food products. Our products are delicious, healthy and sustainable - perfect for improving your diet!

We want to create a better future by improving the global diet with our peas. We vision that to create a healthy diet product, we need collaboration and partnerships from academic and industry partners to achieve maximum efficiency. We also ensure that we contribute to food security with our products by offering affordable and nutritious products for lower-income families, as well as keeping in mind the sustainability of our packages and operation processes.
